Formulation of NVH-Specifications for passenger car tire development |

Problem
Tire structure vibrations and vibrations of the air column inside the tire (cavity vibrations) transmitted as structure-borne noise or airborne noise cause a relevant part of the traffic noise and reduce the ride comfort.

Objective
- allocation of tire parameters to specific eigenmodes
- adaptation of a tire model for rolling noise simulation by structural adjustment and parameterization
- derivation of technical specifications for the tire development
Approach
- measurement of the tire-eigenfrequencies and visualization of the corresponding eigenmodes via laser-vibrometer
- transmission of the measurement results on a suitable tire model
- verification of the correlation between the vibration characteristics of the tire and the vehicle interior noise by means of simulation
- development of a standard method for the forecast of the acoustic behavior of a certain tire/vehicle-combination
